Get offended.
No sense of comradery with other white people.
My black friends will refer to other black people they don’t even know as “brother”. Same goes for just about any other race I’ve seen. The same does not hold true for white people. “Bro” is about as far as you can go, and even then, it’s just an empty sentiment that’s imposed itself into our regular vernacular. There’s no sense that we are all brothers or family on this earth together.
No automatic sense of belonging.
With any other race, there’s racial pride. There are parades, conventions, and festivals as testimony to your pride. Wanna know what kind of white pride parades there are? Protests by the KKK. I can’t get into “white” groups at all, because you have to look and act a certain way. You have to make a certain amount of money. You have to be within a certain level of physical shape. You have to water down your interests to whatever everyone else likes. Sacrifice every aspect of your personality so you can be a pretentious backstabber like all the rest. There are no “white groups”, and if there are, being white is not good enough to get in.
You’re expendable.
If I’m applying for a job, or a company is about to lay people off to cut costs, and it comes down to a decision between me and a black woman, guess who they’re picking? The black woman wins out every time. Why? Because she’s a “racial minority”, and they don’t want to risk a lawsuit fueled by the race card. Don’t believe me? Ask business owners that you know, although you might have to get ‘em drunk first to admit it. White people don’t get special credits and grants to go to college. White people don’t get special treatment when they want to start a business. They’re glossed over entirely.
We’re all assumed to be racist.
I don’t know what to make of this anomaly. Everyone, actually, is at least little bit racist. Europeans are racist as hell, and Asian cultures have a racist history that makes Hitler look like a mere “ne’er-do-well”. I’ve met black people that are severely racist against Hispanic people. But despite the fact that white people outlawed slavery in this country, and white people wrote the laws against racial prejudice, every other race believes we are racist. White people are still, somehow, the face of racial prejudice. We have to constantly choose our words carefully around people who aren’t white, for fear of being viewed as such. Remember earlier when I said the black woman wins out over a white man when layoffs and job positions are being chosen? Even if the white man has more tenure, or 5 years more experience, added with even more certifications… still the black woman wins. Why? They don’t want to be viewed as racist. White people are probably the ones mostly against racism, actually. It’s why we’re so self-conscious about trying not to sound that way.
Other races think we’re privileged when we’re actually not.
The color of my skin has granted me absolutely no privilege whatsoever. I’ve had to work and bust my ass for everything I own, and I’m still short-changed. I’ve never been rich. I’ve never been given an easy pass for anything. But no, every other race thinks I’m privileged, and they feel injusticed by my existence since they think I have so much and they so little.
We have to suffer for the actions of our bigoted ancestors.
I don’t know why this is… White people are pointed at in defiance. Of course slavery is wrong – that’s why we outlawed it. Of course segregation is wrong – that’s why we outlawed it. I’ll never forget this quote from one black woman: “One day, we black people will rise up, and make you white people our slaves! Just so you know how it feels!” I’ve never enslaved anyone. I’ve never discriminated against anyone based on their race. I’ve never given any honor to my bigoted moron ancestors. But I still have to suffer for their crimes, rather than people realizing that I, and many other white descendants, learned from those days to never think that way, or do those actions. Irrelevant of the laws, we think it’s morally wrong. Don’t believe me? Slavery is still alive in other countries, and we rebuke those actions every time we see them. Those stands against injustice worked, and the children of those racists broke the mold and defied that mindset. Is that not what you wanted? Did you want us to continue that ideology for future generations? I think your ancestors would find the mindset of the average white person today to be relieving. They’d think what they did mattered. I think you dishonor your ancestors by making me suffer for shit I didn’t do.
White people can’t party worth shit.
An average white “party” is a barbeque, with beer and wine coolers, and some mild laughing and golf clapping. The men go watch sports, and the women gossip. You’re not allowed to be loud in any way, and you’re not allowed to thoroughly enjoy yourself. They wind the evening down with mild country music, and then everyone goes home and talks shit about one another. The average black party? Crank that music up as high as it will go. Yell and scream like crazy. In fact, just yell for no reason, and everybody will nod their heads and clink beers. If you’re sitting there quietly, you’re apparently not enjoying yourself. Get up and dance, sing, do whatever. Go nuts. Everyone stands around talking to one another, mostly about other times they partied together. When everyone goes home, they’re either passed out, or still laughing about the good time they had. Try pulling any of that at a white party, and they’ll think you’re a wild animal who belongs in a zoo, and not in a highly sophisticated white party.
I’m held responsible for the actions of other racist white people today.
I know white police officers profile against black people. I know self-entitled white CEO’s tend to hire more white people. Don’t lump me in with their kind. Judge me by the content of my character, and not the color of my skin.
